Set Intentions: Before starting your practice, set clear, performance-based goals. Visualize the competitive environment (crowd, pressure, lights) as you reach these goals.
Simulate Pressure: Incorporate competitive elements into practice—timed drills, mock competitions, or maintaining tasks under fatigue to trigger performance mindset elements.
Trigger Transition: Develop a routine to switch gears before a competition. This could include specific breathing exercises, a particular song, a mantra, or mental visualization to cue your brain it’s game time.
Reflect and Adjust: After practices and performances, reflect on what transitions worked and where you can improve. Continuously refine your primer routine to solidify your mental shift.
